Help
General
The application enables didactical content to be maintained and used. The content can be shared with other users.
A topic is assigned to an area. Questions with corresponding answers can be defined for each topic, which are then queried either in the specified order or randomly.
Users can only manage their own data. However, they can authorize followers per topic to use their data for sessions.
Users
Only users can manage and use data. The registration form is located in the login area. The process is as follows:
- The prospective user registers by entering a username, nickname, email address, and language. He will receive a message containing a code.
- The registration is confirmed using this code. Once logged in, users can enter or modify additional user data and settings.
It is possible to create multiple identities with a single email address.
Followers
Data becomes valuable when it can also be used by others. This is precisely the intention of this application. The community is managed as a following. Anyone can follow anyone, including each other. The following rules apply:
- Each user may only manage own data.
- Others can only view the data when they use it.
- Potential followers must be invited.
- Followers can temporarily deactivate the following.
- Both parties can delete the following at any time.
- The followee determines for each topic whether others can use it.
The following is established when the followee invites the potential follower. To do this, the followee generates a code, which he then communicates to the potential follower. No nickname is displayed, so that the anonymity of other users is preserved.
The follower adds the followee by entering the code. The following is thus established. Both parties see the username and can each add a comment.
A follower can deactivate the following if the topics of the followee are not to be displayed temporarily.

| Add | Add a data record. | |
| Edit | Edit a data record. | |
| Delete | Delete a data record. When deleting, please note that deletion is cascading. This means that all subordinate data records will also be deleted. For example, if a topic is deleted, all questions below will also be deleted, as well as the answers below those questions. | |
| Go back | Go to the higher level. | |
| Go to | Go to the level below. | |
| Import | Records are imported in ODS, XLS, or XLSX format. | |
| Export | Data records are exported as a table. |
Areas
Areas are used to structure topics. In relation to school, an area could be a school subject and a topic could be a chapter in a textbook.
When an area is deleted, all topics below it are also deleted.
Topics
A topic contains the questions for a session.
Sorting
The sorting determines whether the questions are presented randomly or in the specified order. An order is useful if questions build on each other or if the application is used for imparting knowledge.
Share
The “Share” setting determines who is allowed to use the topic for sessions. Only the owner can see and maintain his master data.
Language
The language refers to the user's language. If a language is the subject of the topic, this is specified in the next step using the category. For example, if a Spanish speaker is learning English, the language is Spanish and the category is English.
Questions
Media
You can attach an image or a video as media. To paste an image from the clipboard, first select the dotted box, then press Ctrl+V. You can also upload an image file. To link a video, simply paste the command line for a YouTube video, for example.
Question Type
Case Sensitive Text
The answer is entered as text. Each of the answers is correct. The answer must be entered exactly as it appears and must match the upper and lower case letters.
Case Insensitive Text
The answer is entered as text. Each of the answers is correct. The answer must be entered exactly as it appears, but does not have to match the upper and lower case letters.
Multiple Choice
Each answer is displayed. The user decides which answers are correct. The question is considered answered when all checkboxes are correctly checked. Example:
Which insects are carnivores?
- ☑Wasps
- ☑Hornets
- ☐Bees
- ☑Ants
Single Choice
Each answer is displayed. The user decides which answer is correct. The question is considered answered when the correct option field has been selected. Example:
On which continent is Greenland located?
- ○Africa
- ○Europe
- ◉America
- ○Asia
- ○Oceania
Self Assessment
It's like learning with flashcards. The user sees the question, thinks about the answer, and then displays it. He then decides for himself whether the answer is correct or incorrect.
This type of answer can also be used for knowledge transfer by specifying a fixed sequence of questions within the topic.
Categories
A topic must be assigned to a category in order to appear among the published topics. The button with the letter "C" opens the corresponding modal. Adding an additional category is only useful if the topic actually applies to different categories. The topic "Electrical Circuits," for example, can apply to both engineers and craftsmen.
A category can be a specific category or the node for a parent category. If there are child categories, this is indicated by a right-pointing arrow.
It is possible to select the general category if the topic cannot be specified more precisely. Keep in mind how filtering works in the published topics section. If a filter is set to a specific category, parent categories are not taken into account. Example: A topic covers both metalworking and electrical issues. It is therefore generally assigned to engineering. A user selects only "Electronics" in the published topics section. The filter does not take into account the topic of the parent category "Engineering" and will not display the topic. Subcategories, on the other hand, are taken into account.
Tip: Organize the questions so that each topic can be assigned to a specific category.
Tags
Tags apply across categories, such as the difficulty level of a language. You don't have to assign a tag. However, if a tag is selected in the published topics section, all topics without that tag will be excluded.
Sessions
A session contains the questions for a topic. The current questions with valid answers are transferred. The session is not updated if the topic’s content is changed or deleted.
You can also use other users’ data if there is an active following and the topic has been set to be shared.
Published
All shared topics assigned to a category are displayed. Visibility is determined by the owner.
If a user who is not logged in interrupts a session and then logs in, the session is subsequently assigned to them.
The display of topics can be limited using filters.
Sessions
All of your own topics and topics for followers can be used, even if they have not been assigned to a category. An interrupted session can be continued later.
Test Types
In a test, each question is only posed once.
In an exercise, each question is posed until it is answered correctly.
Exclude questions
Once the question has been answered, it can be excluded. This applies to both the current session and future sessions.
Consideration of learning outcomes
When learning, past success is taken into account. First, the questions that have not yet been answered correctly very often are presented. It starts at the bottom. Each correct answer increases the level, each incorrect answer lowers the level.
Example: Johnny is practicing vocabulary. After three sessions, the following picture emerges
The vocabulary words dog and cat were always answered correctly the first time. 0 + 3 = 3
The vocabulary words fox and bird were answered incorrectly once: 0 + 3 - 1 = 2
The vocabulary word hippopotamus was answered incorrectly at least three times. If the user did not interrupt the session prematurely, then there will be at least a one at the end.
In the next session, the questions will be asked at random, starting from the bottom. First, the hippopotamus will be asked, then the fox or the bird, and finally the dog or the cat. If, for example, there are 50 animal vocabulary words and the user has reached the level where learning is no longer necessary halfway through, he can stop early.
Each user can set the maximum number of levels in the user data. Too many levels will result in the same question being asked again too often. If you do not want a level to be taken into account, then the maximum level is 0.
Data exchange
Import
Data can also be imported in ODS, XLS, and XLSX table formats. Questions and responses for the selected topic are imported. The export file can be used as a template. The following schema include the examples above:
| questionnumber | questiontext | media | questiontype | points | responsenumber | responsetext | correct |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | European bison in latin | ci | 1 | 1 | bos bonasus | 1 | |
| 2 | Which insects are carnivores? | mc | 1 | 1 | Wasps | 1 | |

| 3 | sc | 1 | 5 | Oceania | 0 |
There are fixed rules.
Headline
The first row must indicate the name of the corresponding column. The column header contains a predefined English label (case-insensitive). There may also be additional columns, which will then be ignored.
questionnumber = Question Number
The question number determines the order of the questions. It works the same way as when inserting manually. For existing questions, the new ones are placed in the corresponding position. Keep in mind that the list is re-sorted after each insertion.
Example: There are already 10 questions. Two additional questions are to be inserted between the 3rd and 4th records and between the 7th and 8th records. In this case, insert in the order 7, 8, 3, 4 to avoid unnecessary calculations.
The question number is used to determine whether there is a new question.
questiontext = Question Text
The first line of a new question determines the content of the question text, question type, and points. The following lines are ignored.
questiontype = Question Type
Abbreviations in lowercase letters are used for the question types.
cs = case sensitive:
Case Sensitive Text
ci = case insensitive:
Case Insensitive Text
mc = multiple choice:
Multiple Choice
sc = single choice:
Single Choice
sa = self assessment:
Self Assessment
points = Points
Points may contain two decimal places. If an entry is incorrect or missing, it is silently overwritten with the value 1. No warning is issued.
responsenumber = Response Number
If an entry is incorrect or missing, the response is appended.
responsetext = Response Text
The response text must be filled in.
correct = Correct
The following Boolean values are permitted:
1/0 - true/false - yes/no
If a question type only allows true responses, then incorrect or missing entries are silently treated as true.
Export
The data is exported into a single flat table. You can export data by topic, by area, or all of the above. The column headers and layout follow the rules for importing questions and answers.

Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence can be used to generate learning content for data import. This will be demonstrated using an example. A student wants to select the most important vocabulary words from a text and have them translated. The artificial intelligence has difficulty processing words that are simply formatted differently. The selected words must therefore be enclosed in quotation marks or written again after the text. You can select multiple words by holding down the Control key while double-clicking to highlight a word. Then copy the words together to the clipboard and paste them after the text.
Precise instructions for the artificial intelligence can be saved for future use.
Instruction
"Words from a text are to be translated. The selected words appear again below the text. The translation is to be used in a learning program where the word must be entered exactly as it appears. Therefore, a neutral form without additional characters should be created. This means:
Write a verb in the tense and person as in the text. Create a second version where you convert it to the infinitive.
Convert all nouns to the singular nominative case.
Convert all adjectives and adverbs to the uninflected masculine form in the positive.
Create a table with the following columns.
- Original word from the text. The word should not begin with a capital letter unless it was at the beginning of a sentence in the text or was intentionally capitalized.
- Conversion according to the instructions.
- Brief explanation of the word, e.g., noun, verb, adverb. For a noun, the gender should also be added, e.g., noun, neuter
- Translation
Example:
Original Text | Neutral | Explanation | Translation
haces | tú haces | verb, present tense | you make
haces | hacer | verb, infinitive | to make
contenta | contento | adjective | happy
Text
Mariposa
Mariposa del aire,
qué hermosa eres
mariposa del aire,
dorada y verde.
Words
Mariposa
aire
hermosa
eres
dorada
verde"
Output:
| Original Text | Neutral | Explanation | Translation |
|---|---|---|---|
| mariposa | mariposa | noun, feminine | butterfly |
| aire | aire | noun, masculine | air |
| hermosa | hermoso | noun, masculine | beautiful |
| eres | eres | verb, present tense, 2nd person | you are |
| eres | ser | verb, infinitive | to be |
| dorada | dorado | adjective | golden |
| verde | verde | adjective | green |
The four columns are used to verify the results. The two relevant columns can be used in the import file.
The artificial intelligence can also process scanned or photographed texts. Another example would be photographing the vocabulary section in a language textbook and creating instructions for it.
